Bird’s Eye View

There is a truck inspection station on northbound Interstate 75 in Florida, a few miles north of exit 439, where stands an odd sort of antenna shaped like a wire mesh umbrella on a very tall steel pole.

  2. We just drove past this exact stop weigh station and I googled what the tall pole with a wire mesh umbrella was for in Florida and your post came up as the top result. Does anyone know what it actually is for?

  3. Just passed these and wondered what the heck they were! Thankful for this info! We didn’t see an osprey, but wondered if it would attract them!

  4. Lightning protection system. That is what those poles are. This was installed to create a safe bubble for the people and equipment on the ground especially since the surrounding area with poles is the high point for that area. They are not antennas.
