Barbie Beach is one of the most weird and wonderful roadside attractions in the entire state of Georgia.
Fresh produce may be healthy but it can be expensive, which often puts it out of the reach of those who need it the most. Georgia citizens who qualify for EBT card (aka food stamps) learn to stretch those dollars as far as possible in order to feed their families.
In Valdosta, GA, the Farm Days farmer’s market is here to help!
First stop: the Farm Days tent where you can swipe your EBT card in exchange for Farm Days Dollars… and receive TWICE as many Farm Days Dollars as the amount taken off your EBT. That’s right, TWO for ONE! For example, you spend ten EBT dollars… you get TWENTY Farm Days Dollars! You are DOUBLING your purchase power!
Farm Days Dollars can only be spent for food, at the Farm Days farmer’s market. If you don’t spend all your Farm Days Dollars, you can save them for the next Farm Days event or cash them in at the same Farm Days tent where you bought them.
Fresh local food!
The Farm Days farmer’s market is open from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on select Saturdays from May through October on the historic Courthouse Square in downtown Valdosta, GA.

The Old Lady is a foodie and prefers her goodies to be local, organic, and fresh.
She has an ongoing interest in foraging for herbs both edible and medicinal, but knew that she needed a teacher to guide her through the woods and to make sure that she can accurately identify the plants that are friendly to our guts.
Usnea, for example. The Old Lady has seen this lovely lichens, in fact it has called to her with its odd design but TOL always thought it just wanted to be photographed. She stopped to admire some displayed on a table at a farmers market in North Carolina.Imagine The Old Lady’s surprise to learn from the owner of that table that usnea is more than just a pretty face! Properly prepared usnea is a powerful medicine, and as TOL discussed this with the owner of the table she knew that she had met the teacher she has been seeking! You just never know what you’ll find at your local farmers market.
SHOP LOCAL, ORGANIC, AND FRESH… listen to The Old Lady!
The Old Lady LOVES waterfalls.
Born under the sign of Cancer the Crab and ruled by the moon with rainbows in her eyes, TOL is happiest when she is in water.Putting her head under a waterfall makes her laugh out loud!At High Falls in North Carolina you have to earn the experience. The trail is rough and steep. But the rewards are priceless!
People make art here…… so The Old Lady did too…… AND found wild blueberries and wild cherries. But watch out for the wasps! The Old Lady spent one of the best days of her life, so far, in this magical and mystical gorge.
The Old Lady loves Florida’s springs, and at Blue Springs State Park she was privileged to witness an act of patient love. The water, of course, is cold… Florida’s springs are usually about 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Entering the chilly water for the first time is a bit of a shock…especially for a child. The Old Lady watched a friend patiently and gently coax the child past his shock at the chill so that he not only jumped in but actually started having fun!
